The first thing Dr. Nejat F. Eczacıbaşı, the founder of the Eczacıbaşı Group, did was to offer three products that were in great need to the society that was living in great hardship and deprivation during the Second World War. The main source of vitamins for almost everyone from children to the elderly was fish oil, which was usually brought from Norway in those years. Fish oil was not easily found in the 1940s due to war and foreign exchange difficulties. Nejat Eczacıbaşı thought of making a similar product to fish oil with the knowledge he gained from his biochemistry education.
